Introducing Rebecca Coles

Becky is an expedition leader and Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (the 40th woman to gain the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor), with a PhD in Glacial Geomorphology.

She travels the world mountaineering and has achieved numerous first ascents in very challenging environments – most notably Lasarmu La, a 6200m peak in the far west of Nepal, four first ascents in South Georgia, Antarctica, and two major first ascents in Wakhan Corridor, Afghanistan. Most recently she has been climbing all the 4000m peaks in the Alps attempting to become the first all-female team to do this. Named Project Alpine Spirit, the team have climbed all 48 Swiss 4000m peaks and a total of 61 alpine 4000ers. It is little wonder she has been named as one of the 50 most ground-breaking and influential female climbers the UK has ever produced.

Becky works leading high altitude expeditions and also specialises in off-the-beaten track regions of the world. In the UK she trains people for mountaineering and climbing objectives and skills for expeditions through her website.
