One of the main reasons why I chose this jacket was for the breathability. I was replacing an older Gore-Tex PacLite jacket which suffered from breathability issues and was not really primarily designed for running (as I was using it between running and cycling). So, I chose this jacket, size S and in red. Material: (1) In terms of material I was quite amazed as to how lightweight and thin the fabric is, yet it is also strong. I cannot comment on abrasion resistance as I do not run with any kind of pack but seems tough enough for such a lightweight fabric. (2) The breathability of the fabric also surprised me as I was sceptical at first. I was running in sub-zero conditions and once I returned home, I found that while here was some condensate inside the jacket, it was nowhere near as bad as my previous Gore-Tex jacket, so I remained 'relatively' dry considering the potential for sweat to evaporate was low due to the cold conditions. (3) I have yet to be in a heavy downpour, but the light rain I experienced while running was easily shed from the fabric's surface. Build: The construction quality of the jacket is very good, with all the stitching, seams and other items neat and symmetrical. The front zipper pockets use a water-resistant seals, and while they are stiff to use one handed, they open without pulling the fabric in an awkward direction (which can be the case with some front facing zipped pockets). The only slight gripe was the alignment of the micro-taping used on the seams. For the most part the micro taping aligned well with the centre of the seam, but on some areas, it was not as neat and may cause a future issue. Fit: I took the size S based on the Montane size spec and this proved to be a good guide (I am 1.78m tall with 38-40 chest size). The only minor niggle would be the arm length, and when I do stretch, I could perhaps do with an additional 20-25mm of arm length to prevent the cuff from moving away from my wrist. This was more noticeable in colder conditions when the cuffs kept coming off my gloves and exposed a small area of damp skin which got cold quickly. I can live with this issue, so only a minor point. Function: All the parts and feature of the jacket such as the hood, the neat little pop-stud tab to hold the jacket partially closed while the zip is down, and front pockets work fine. The only feature I am not likely to use is the pack-away function where you can stuff the entire jacket into one of the front pockets. I tried this once and while the jacket fits into one of the pockets, it actually leaves the inner fabric membrane/coating susceptible to damage. As far as I could see there was no way to avoid this, so I would not want to scratch or nick this inner fabric surface as it could compromise the waterproofness of the packet Overall, a very good and effective jacket for running, walking and everyday use.

Really nice jacket, lightweight, stretchy, close fit which I like, fits me just right, as the sizing guide said it should.
