I tried a few different pile jackets and finally settled on this one, which is my favourite by far. It's so comfortable and warm I want to wear it all the time! It feels much more substantial than Patagonia's retro pile jacket but not as overly bulky as Rab's pile jacket. Montane describe it as an active fit but it feels more like a regular fit to me. I have 39" chest and 31" waist and the medium fits me well. Quite close fitting across the shoulders but looser on the arms and around the waist.
Positives:
• Very warm.
• Pile lining on the inside which makes it more cozy.
• Looks great and fits well.
• Comfortable collar which isn't too high.
Negatives:
• Quite bulky so it doesn't work well as a midlayer.
• No chest pocket.

Top quality mountaineering fleece
The Chonos fleece is extremely comfortable and warm and it looks great too. It is slightly expensive but there’s no doubt that it is a top quality fleece that meets the specification listed by Montane.

The big bear jacket but surprisingly lightweight.
This is now my winter staple fleece! It arrived today and i've not taken it off. I cant wait to camp and sit round a fire in it!
