Bought in a hurry when storm Alex coincided with a 28 mile trail marathon. Wore it while running throughout the marathon (4.5 hours) and it was great. Kept the rain off and it was light and well fitting enough such that I didn't really notice I was wearing it. I had tried on this and the Inov-8 Stormshell and while I would have been happy with either, and they both use the same Pertex Shield material, I preferred the features on the Montane.

I liked that it has two good pockets and the clip to hold the jacket together when unzipped works very well (the Stormshell's clip is too high). The hood is also better than the Stormshell's because the peak is stiffened as well as wired (the Inov-8's is only wired) and is slightly shorter so didn't flap but was long enough to keep the weather off my face. The Montane could be a little longer (that's the only area where I preferred the Inov-8) but the length wasn't an issue.

The Pertex fabric was waterproof and definitely breathed although my t-shirt was very damp at the end of the race. I'd hoped for better but I've never found anything to be as breathable as I want. But despite being damp, I wasn't cold or wet. The fabric also seems more robust thn expected. It got caught on blackthorn and brambles a few times and there was only one small snag, which surprised me given how attached to the bramble I became! I'm happy to recommend this jacket although would like something even more breathable.

I've run in a lot of difference waterproof jackets but there is just something extra about this one. It work well, fits great and has the adjustable hood and hem that really make a difference in poor weather.
