    Almost there

Can't fault the weight of the bag and the large side pockets are excellent and made eating on the move alot easier. The weight of the pack seems to sit a bit further back than my previous trailblazer rucksack which felt a bit odd to begin with but I got used to it. The pack was very comfortable to run with. However, the chest straps are not first for purpose, they loosen after just a few minutes and I must have tightened them >100 times in a 6 hour run. I had tried looping them back on themselves but this makes it a pain in the ass to take the pack off, particularly with gloves or mitts on. I have now resorted to stapling the strap so they are now non-adjustable which gives me no flexibility but at least I don't have to keep re-tightening them. If the chest strap issue is fixed then the bag would be a clear 5 star.

    Unfortuantely unusable

I used the Trailblazer 18 litre pack all year and bought this 28L LT for heading into the colder months for more capacity. Although the waterproofing was good on the one time I used it, the chest straps were completely loosening every 10 minutes ruining the harness system (to compare, the Trailblazer 18 would only need retightened a few times on a 6-8 hour walk). On top of this I couldn't even get a filled 1.8 litre bladder into the bladder compartment (compared to being able to get a 3 litre one in the 18 litre trailblazer!), the gap is so tiny to get it in. The retailer suggested filling it when it is already in the bag but some bladders load from the bottom (like mine), and I doubt something with a slide top you would even be able to close when in the bag - on top of this you're risking getting the back system wet and also impossible to fill up at streams/rivers which I do often. I don't think this bag is Hydration bladder compatible as claimed, and the chest straps loosening means you can't distribute the weight on your shoulders as you like - it falls way short of the core Trailblazer series unfortunately. Although it's impressive weight wise I think a couple of design changes are required to make this usable for fast hiking / fastpacking. I had to return the pack to the retailer.

    Travel pack

I bought this pack primarily for cabin baggage on flights to walking holidays but also use it on day walks. It has exceeded expectations and has proved more useful than I thought. I did have a slight problem when one of the chest straps came off but it was easily reinstalled. The two pockets on the shoulder straps are extremely useful. First time I have used a roll top pack but as long as I rolled the top 3 times I have had no problems with rain ingress. Really impressed.

My sweet spot backpacking fastpacking for a few days camping

I was a bit worried about how I would actually get on with this pack but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I can easily fit my base gear to camp and fit enough food for 2-3 days and usually around 3L of water (two 500ml in the chest strap pockets and 2L In my hydration bladder. The pack it’s self is super light, very durable material that seems to stand up well to scrapes, has a great system for honing in the fit and has decent form factor for fitting inside to fit both soft and rigid items comfortably.

My only areas for improvement with this pack is the fitting and removal of a water bladder, i damaged on of mine getting it in but tbh that’s more of an issue with how broad the top of the bladder is. The other area is the sternum/cheat straps that connect to the shoulder strap, I like a tight hold but these ones are very stretchy and if pulled too tight will slowly work them selves undone. You can double them back on them selves as there are plenty of loops to hook them through but I’ve opted to replace them with 3x straps off of one of my Forclaz hydration vests as they are a lot stronger.

Even with those things considered, this is now my go to bag for any thing between 1-3 days on the trails or camping.
