Steve Parr Round FKT Report

Towards the end of summer Montane Ambassador Howard Dracup pulled off the unimaginable, breaking a course record for the Steve Parr Round which had stood for over 30 years. What makes his achievement all the more remarkable is that the attempt was thrown together in under a week! I’d first come to hear about the Steve Parr Round earlier in the year when Paul Nelson completed it in July. The challenge is to run approximately 118 miles and 45,000ft of climb in under 48 hours. Thinning the Herd

The 2020 Montane Yukon Arctic Ultra has been in full force for the past 5 days. With it has been the usual race dramas; bad feet, cold, fatigue, and the will-they-won’t-they of dot-watching. Where this race differs is the scale of drama – the extreme cold (down to -35 last night) means that any issue, no matter how small, can become a game-changing race-finisher. Factor in the solitude and race-finishers can pose a severe risk to life. The MYAU is often billed as the ‘World’s Coldest Ultra’. This year another... Read More

Spine Race Day 5 Elsewhere, there was heartbreak for 2 runners who until today had looked certain to take... Read More
