Protium Pull-On Review

Montane Ambassador Hannah Campbel of www.theferallady.com has found her new favourite piece of kit; the Protium Pull-On. Here’s why: The Protium uses Montane’s Thermo Grid fleece fabric with a brushed inner, which feels super comfortable and wicks moisture away well. It’s smooth outer face and close fit makes it an excellent layering piece. Comfort aside, the real plus for Hannah is the Protium’s overall useability. It’s simplicity – born of a refined but well considered feature set makes it incredibly versatile without sacrificing wearability. ” Whether you’re a daily mountain... Read More

Looking Out and Up

My biggest achievement is not a tangible success; an epic send of a hard grade boulder, a mountain summit or even the opportunity to travel to really experience different places, cultures or activities. My biggest achievement is still ongoing. Recovery from a severe eating disorder, PTSD and other mental health issues that stole most of my life. For many years I lived in a fragile body that could barely walk, trapped in the prison of my own mind. I found faith in God and discovered indoor bouldering about 4 years... Read More

Achievement | Challenge

By Jen Scotney Greatest Achievement I was called to the Bar in 2005 and for 14 years I worked as a Human Rights Lawyer, specialising in representing young people in prison on life sentences. My greatest achievement was winning a human rights case at The Supreme Court, the highest court in England and Wales, and changing the Parole Board’s policy on the review of prisoners. I went into law to fight for fairness and equality... Read More

Down, Not Out: The Art of Being Injured

By Katy Parrott ‘I’m afraid you’ve probably done your ACL’, says the Doc. ‘I reckon I’ll still be good to go for the 4- miler tomorrow’, I replied, 20 minutes after the incident, high as a kite on fentanyl. From then on, if I had a tenner every time I heard, ‘You are going to be the worst patient ever’, I would be a millionaire right now. To start with I believed them, but I’ve actually surprised myself with how I’ve adjusted to the trials and tribulations of being injured,... Read More

Lockdown Arete

When the pandemic arrived, I never really anticipated the impact it would have on my way of life. At first, my work as a Mountaineering Instructor came to a halt and I assumed it would just be a month or two before I was working back in the mountains. A few months later, I noticed toilet paper was being sold on the black market and Gwen down the road had started selling flour in paper bags out of her car boot. The chaos had exceeded my expectations to put it... Read More
